Improve Skin Texture and Firmness – Naturally

Microneedling (also known as collagen induction therapy) is a safe, office-based procedure that is designed to increase collagen and improve the quality of your skin. It can be used to treat a variety of skin problems including acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles, pore size and skin texture.

This minimally invasive treatment rejuvenates the skin. Results include improved skin texture and firmness and a reduction in lines, wrinkles, scars and pore size.

How Microneedling Works

The Collagen PIN device is moved back and forth over the surface of the skin while multiple fine needles in the sterile tip rapidly penetrate the surface of the skin. As the tiny microneedle holes heal, collagen and elastin are naturally produced and cause the skin to shrink and tighten – reducing fine lines and wrinkles.

It also breaks apart the thicker, abnormal collagen bundles that are present in scars. As a result, it is a safe, affordable treatment for scars, especially acne scars that are visible on the face.

A topical anesthetic is applied to the face before the procedure to help improve comfort.  As a result, most patients feel a little stinging but find the treatment is not painful.

Custom Treatments for Your Skin Problems

The Collagen PIN allows microneedling treatments to be customized to each area of the face or body. The disposable needle tips, speed, and depth of penetration can be adjusted by your doctor.

Best results are obtained when patients receive a series of 3-6 treatments spaced 2-4 weeks apart. Although not required, some patients prefer to return annually for a single microneedling session to help maintain or improve the appearance of their skin.

Based on your skin problem and personal goal, Dr. Baker will discuss the best treatment option for you.

Microneedling Versus Laser Resurfacing

Microneedling is a lot more affordable than laser resurfacing and does not have the associated risks.  It is also safer than laser for patients with darker skin tones.  Although laser resurfacing and dermabrasion are very effective, they have a longer downtime than microneedling.

In short, microneedling gives you the biggest bang for your buck for common skin problems:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth and chin
  • Acne scarring
  • Large pores
  • Skin texture
